Commercial Snow Removal FAQs

As the old joke goes, Edmonton has two seasons: construction and winter. You’ll be pleased to hear that Gateway Builders handles both with professionalism and ease! Whether it’s for a condo building or a strip mall, many businesses often have the same questions related to our snow removal services. Let’s address some of those frequently asked questions now.

How much does commercial snow removal cost?

Many factors go into commercial snow removal pricing, such as property access, obstacles or obstructions, the amount of area to clear, and more. Every business is unique with different requirements, but we will work closely with you to ensure our services are tailored to your specific needs. Click here to get a free quote on our services!

What types of properties do you serve?

We clear snow and ice from all types of commercial properties and businesses, ranging from apartment complexes to shopping centers. We service parking lots, sidewalks, roadways, commercial properties, restaurants, shopping centers, retail stores, malls, medical clinics & facilities, hotels, motels, condominiums, apartments, office buildings, industrial properties, and more!

Can I choose the length of service?

Absolutely! Whether you need a one-time snow clearing or an ongoing service, Gateway Builders is happy to help. We also offer discounts for annual contracts and sidewalk & parking lot packages.

What time do you normally start clearing snow?

This answer can vary greatly depending on weather conditions, the time it begins to snow, and more. We strive to clear snow and ice from your commercial property promptly and without disruption to your business operations. Let us know if you have any specific requirements for the timing of service delivery!

Do we need to contact you every time the snow needs to be cleared?

No, unless there is a specific request for something outside of the regular scope of work. Once a seasonal or annual contract is in place, we will make sure we know your expectations and snow removal needs. From there, our teams will monitor your commercial site to determine when and how to clear the snow.

How often do you clear snow during continuous snowfall (ie. greater than 48 hours)?

Gateway Builders will be on site once every 24 hours during continuous snowfall to ensure your sidewalks, parking lots, and other surfaces are clear.

What kind of equipment do you use to clear snow and ice?

We use a combination of skid steers (think Bobcats), plows, graders, snow blowers, scrapers, and shovels to get the job done. We know you need to have the right tools for the job, so we’ve got specialty snow & ice scraping tools and other attachments to solve any problem.

What do you do if there are cars or other obstructions in the way?

Safety is paramount at Gateway Builders, and we have a mutual respect for ours, yours, and your customers’ property. We will adapt to our conditions, clearing snow around cars and other obstructions in parking lots. However, it’s important to note that we will do our absolute best work when we are uninhibited by cars, debris, or anything else we may find on your property while scraping, grading, and blowing away the snow and ice!

It’s incredibly icy here. Can you send someone to put salt or sand down?

Yes! Gateway Builders offers 24/7 parking lot sanding services with a one to three hour response time. Shovelling and snow blowing can only get you so far, and it’s important to provide something to help prevent your patrons from slipping and sliding.

What do you do with the snow that you plow? Do you keep it in a giant pile?

Depending on your needs (and the space allotted for a growing mountain of snow and ice) we will generally work to maximize your parking lot capacity with sensible snow piling. We can also haul away the snow and ice that we clear (if required).
